As a majority of you know, Media specialists received a cart of 30 Chromebooks this year. A lot of media specialists are embracing using these devices with their classes.
The media specialist at Sedgefield Elementary, Alisa Combs, was very excited to use the chromebooks with her classes and had me come and assist her with implementing a lesson.
Ms. Combs created a Google Form to help students get familiar with the Chromebook, Google Docs, Google Forms and Horizon. Ms. Combs decided she wanted students to access a Google Form that had questions relating to a Horizon Hunt to help students get familiar with using Horizon.
Ms. Combs did a lot of work before beginning the project with the students. She created Log-in cards for each student to help them log-on to the Chromebooks the first time. She then had students access her website with a shortened URL so it was easier for them to type in and then the students opened horizon and the google form. Students were also encouraged to type all their answers in Google Docs in case they didn't finish their Horizon Hunt in one class period (which they didn't)
The students were engaged and enjoyed using their Chromebooks for the first time.
Way to go Sedgefield Elementary! :)
